Celebrorated personalities from Mazra-e Kalantar and the Zoroastrian community
Parichehr Jamshid Jamshidi Kalantari was born in Mazra-e Kalantar and grew up in Tehran. Parichehr is in love with three things: her family, sports and Mazra. When Parichehr moved from Mazra to Tehran, she started her primary education, and since she loved sports from the very beginning, she would run and play with ball in the school yard whenever she got the chance.
After finishing primary school she was admitted to Anushirvan Dadgar High School (in those days there was no intermediary school). In Anushirvan High School she could show her talent in 100m race. For two consecutive years she was the national champion in 100m running race. Parvin got interested in volleyball and again she succeeded to become captain of Anushirvan Dadgar volleyball team. Besides school sports, she was member of club volleyball teams and also national volleyball team, for about 12 years. In international games, her team succeeded to bring victories for Iran. Though Parichehr, now, has two children and two grandchildren, she still treasures the memory of the famous coaches she had, like Mr Jananpour, Nemati and Mahmoud Motlagh.
Mazra-e Kalantar takes pride in knowing that Parichehr belongs to Mazra, and wishes her and her family health and happiness. May her path be followed by others.

The game between Mazra and Narsiabad adult teams
4th Farvardin was the fourth day of the 34th round of Yeganegi Cup games. Four games were planned for this day from which two games were played. The fourth game was played between Mazra and Narsiabad adult teams. Mazra team with Mehrdad Manuchehri, Bahram Manuchehri, Afshin Jamshidi, Sohrab Virabi, Behnam Samia, Manuchehr Jamshidi, Shahbahram Zohrabi and Gudarz Khademi as players, had their first victory against the Mazdeyasni team of Khorramshah, and was aiming at winning its second game from Narsiabad. Narsiabad team with players such as Lohrasb Rostami, Sohrab Yazdani, Esfandiar Belivan and Qobad Rostami, had lost to the Yazd team in its first game, and came into the ground with the hope of making up for its loss. In the first few minutes of the first quarter Mazra team succeeded to overtake Narsiabad by its 3 point shots. But, then Narsiabad overtook with its 3 point shots, and finally in the first quarter Narsibad trailed by 11-16.
In the second quarter, Mazra played a better game and reduced the gap but again Narsiabad overtook with its 3 point shots and won by 25-33.
The third and fourth quarters were followed with more excitement. In the third quarter Mazra team showed a better game and lost by just one point. Finally, in the fourth quarter, Mazra team made the best of each opportunity and with the help of 3 point shots overtook Narsiabad, in the last minutes, and in the last 3 seconds of the game could increase the difference from 2 to 3 points, thus leaving no hopes for Narsiabad to win.

SPORT OF MAZRA KALANTAR
An article arrived, written by Rostam Bahram Samia Kalantari about sports in Mazra-e Kalantar, and so well written; we know that Rostam was among those directly involved in the sports activities of Mazra and familiar with all its problems and drawbacks. We are opening a page, on our site (sports) and printing his article in this page. We are looking forward to readers’ comments, in the hope of restoring the days when Mazra had an active role in the sports of Iranian Zoroastrians, and the youth of Mazra earned glory for their community.

It is some time, now, that sports in Mazra is in deep sleep, and no one cares. Though, at present, sports in the Zoroastrian community has declined considerably and Mazra also has lost many of its athletes, still, its young people are in a good condition, compared with the other athletes. Coming to the Janbakhtegan Cup of this year, we note that about 30 of the prizes or cups were won by Mazraie athletes. Becoming “best goal scorer” in the junior and minor football was among the honors. It is believed by many that the youth of Mazra has a special talent in sports. This is actually true. They are not only successful in one field of sports but have shown their talent in many fields. For many consecutive years in the past, Mazra’s basketball team was the winning team in Yeganegi and Rasti Cups. It’s interesting to know that despite having minimum facilities and training the team would win over many teams who had proper and sufficient training. Just one month before the games the team would gather and start its physical training and have two or three training sessions in the basketball ground. And, with this amount of practicing it would become champion, all owing to the talent of Mazraie athletes. Again, when the same group would play together in the football games it would gain good ranks and had even played against the selected team of Tehrani Zoroastrians, which had regular training all through the year, and scored equal goals, in the finals. If it had put more time for practicing it would have become winner of the games. The most interesting part of the event was that the best players in the Tehran selected team were also from Mazra, like the captain and coach of the team, Fereidoon Kademi, who was truly the best football player of the Zoroastrian community, or Hooshang Jamshidi and Siroos Behmardi. This shows the amount of talent that the youth of Mazra-e Kalantar have in sports. The same goes for basketball; Mazra had players like (ravanshad) Kurosh Jamshidi and Dr Khosrow Shahriyari Khademi, who were in Fravahar team and can be considered among the best basketball players of Tehran State. In volleyball, Fereidoon Sami, Kurosh Khademi and Farshid Behmardi were among the great players of the Zoroastrian community. In the past, sports was taken seriously in Mazra, so much so that there were three basketball teams: for adults, youth and minors, and from the very beginning they would plan for backup players for their main team. It was due to this way of thinking that the team had gained many championships. When this arrangement for training minors as backup discontinued, it is years that we do not have a basketball team any more. It is interesting that the majority of Mazraie athletes were either brothers or cousins or close friends, and maybe this was another reason that they had harmony and agreement in the ground, in spite of the least amount of training possible. And, since they lived close to each other, they had a natural understanding of each other in the ground, and so would always win. Some examples are: the Jamshidi brothers, Manuchehri brothers, Zohrabi brothers, Khademi brothers, Samia brothers, Farazian brothers, Jahani brothers, and….
We had, and have, priceless assets (many other groups are wishing they had such assets in sports) but we did not appreciate and could not and cannot keep this wealth. In the past, when the basketball team of Mazra would win championship, the people of Mazra had special value for the Cup that was won by their Mazraie youth. They would bear the difficulties of coming to the city, just to cheer their team. Slowly, these championships became ordinary and routine for the people of Mazra and was considered as something easy to gain. They didn’t know what amount of difficulties and selfsacrifices the youth had to undergo in order to make their team champion and earn honor for Mazra. Championship didn’t have value for its people any more. It is years, now, that Mazra-e Kalantar has had no team and no cup. But, I’ll assure you that the youth of Mazra, with a little support and zeal, and a sense of honor for our motherland, can once more win high ranks in the Zoroastrian sports cups. This ambition requires initiative and support of Mazra-e Kalantar Anjuman.
In conclusion, it is our duty to commemorate the memories of our great players, whom many from Mazra might have forgotten, and whose membership was a wish for all Zoroastrian teams; players like (shadravan) Kurosh Jamshidi, (shadravan) Shahriyar Shahriyari, Siroos, Beman and Behrooz Jahani, Shahrokh and Shahbahram Zohrabi, Khodadad, Merdad, Hushang, Bahram and Parviz Manuchehri, Siroos Behmardi, Hushang Jamshidi, Fereidoon Kademi, Shahbahram Lor Kalantari, Fereidoon Samia, Kurosh Khademi, Farshid Behmardi, Aflatoon Kademi, Ardeshir, Kurosh, Behnam and Rostam Samia, Dr Khosrow Sahriyar Khademi, Hushang and Shahriyar Farazian, Mehran Shahriyari and Ardeshir and Manuchehr Jamshidi, and many other boys in the fields of football, basketball and volleyball, who have brought honors for Mazra-e Kalantar and the Zoroastrian community of Iran.
